  1. Why does it seem to cost so much to do Family History Research?

Family history research is personal and often requires extensive paper-based work to ensure accuracy, which can be time-consuming. While many online resources help create family trees, their accuracy might be questionable due to AI tools. Doing it yourself may involve subscribing to various resources.

In addition, there are expenses for the website and domain, society memberships, books, travel, archive cards, training, and significant amounts of research time required.    

With a personal researcher, you can commission the work and relax, knowing the researcher will enhance the results.

  • What happens if you cannot find my relatives or come up blank on your research?

Tracing families through history can be challenging. Despite thorough research, factors like varying names over time, dialects, accents, and manual records can complicate the process.

  • What do you do if there are variations to the name or the family is spread wide

We will accept clear variations of a surname, including obvious double-barrel uses. If we find a similar but different surname, we will inform you. If the research extends beyond normal areas or into international regions, we will notify you and provide advice on potential next steps. Further instructions may be needed for international research.

  • What do I get for my money

Depending on the package you will receive

  • The personal service of a researcher for the length of time required.
  • A report of the family history including known life stories
  • A detailed pedigree family tree
  • Copies either in paper or digital form of all documents and certificates
  • At an additional cost this can also be provided in a mini hard drive, in the form of a GEDCOm file and PDF documents
